today, i was inspired by greatness

I thought I might begin with a quote. Perhaps something that sounded deep - something that sounded profound and would was thought-provocative (not to be confused with provocativeness).

Of course, there are many great writers out there. There are aplenty brilliant people who say things that make people ooh and ahh and hmm etcetera.. It is a huge world out there, with 6 billion people living and breathing on planet earth and many more people being born even as I am scrambling for time and typing now; and not to mention the billions more that have become part of the earth (both soil and sea) and all its landforms (ie people who have died).

So there I was, just a couple of minutes ago, on the one hand thinking 'quick quick just grab a quote!' but on the other hand thinking 'no, I need to pick a good quote!' But again, I digress.

My point was that there are many great writers, and many great quotes. And yet when I'm surrounded by all these greatness, I just don't know what to pick, what to choose, what to put my fingers upon, which words to type, which quotes to quote. Choices, choices, decisions. And since I can't pick a profound quote, here's a lighter one:

"He that but looketh on a plate of ham and eggs to lust after it hath already committed breakfast with it in his heart." (C. S. Lewis)

okay. perhaps I'll be more serious now.
I was watching someone up on a stage pouring their heart out, and I was inspired. I was inspired by how a person, it could have been anyone for that matter. I am inspired, always am inspired when I see people committed, dedicated, devoted, and surrendered to one cause, to the one Christ that I know, the one God that I know to be true. Inspired by great songs written, inspired by simple words put together to form a profound sentence, inspired by passion and compassion, by love, by perseverance - but more than anything, inspired to embrace a willingness to live not for one's self, and having the understanding that my life is not my own.

Whatever it is that you have in your hand, whatever it is that you do for a living, wherever you are in this giganamous world, do it for a purpose. Purpose not to be selfish, purpose not to live only for yourself. Purpose to help others.

and before I end, here's a good quote (or at least, one that I think is good, if not, great).

"Goals must never be from your ego, but problems that cry for a solution." (Robert H. Schuller)
