exhausted (from my first day in the pediatric intensive care unit)

being a nurse is hard work. i spent my first 12 hour shift on the floor today. had two patients, one on a vent (17 month old) with r.s.v., another 1 month old with r.s.v., it's hard to see those little guys struggle for each breath. i have never seen so much lung secretions (snot) in my life either. but i have to say, even with the little kids around me that are on their way outta here, so sick and dying, i have found what it is that i love. i love my job.

i'm tired and i have to go rinse that baby goobers off of me....just wanted to remember this day.
