Still nothing...

Just checked the usual suspects again (MLive, WOOD-TV, etc.). Still no word on the Dematic Layoffs.

In the meantime, I'd like to give a shout out to all of the folks who've been dropping in on this blog lately. I notice from the domains that a not-insignificant portion of you are from the competition or are customers of Dematic.

I suppose you've been perusing Google to try to find out more info on the layoffs. Fact of the matter is, this blog is apparently the only place that is talking about it.

I've been corrected with regard to my previous total (and many thanks to the person who set me straight - I want to be as factually correct as possible). It's not 64 people who were laid off, it's 70. Yes, that's right, seven - zero. I don't know the exact # of white collar folks working for them at the end of 2008, but that has to be darn close to 10% of the work force.

I'm not certain what the rules are with regard to notification of a force reduction in a publicly held company. My beef with the whole situation is that there is precedent when they announced cuts of significantly smaller numbers.

70 less people work for Dematic than started they year in their employ. They can fool themselves into thinking that they can slide one in past the goalie and keep this information to themselves.

The # of unique visits here every day since this happens tells me that they aren't succeeding in that plan. And I thank all of you for that.

rl sucks
