Last Friday, I flew to Arizona to visit a close friend, it's actually my first time so I was really looking forward to it plus the fact that I'm yet to see one of the world's many wonders. I took the last flight since I cannot afford to miss work again. I arrived in PHX around 11pm and by the time I got to my friend's apartment, it was already 12am. We were thinking of catching the sunrise at the Grand Canyon so that meant we had to leave by 3am. The gods must be on my side because sky was so clear. c",)
We got there just in time (like 6:40!) and we were freezing. The weather was like -2 degrees but the cold never really stopped us from staring at the superb overlooks. It's just too concerting and too amazing how vast it is on the first sight. Ibang klase talaga!
The rest of the morning was spent visiting some of its popular trails, taking pictures (of course!) and going around Flagstaff. It was also nice coz I got to see a live elk. As in they're just wandering around Flagstaff! After that, we drove to Sedona which by the way - literally took my breath away. Ang ganda grabe. It's said that the place is abundant of vortices. I'm not sure how they could possibly know that though. It may be all hype but I guess there really is something about that place that would make you feel frenzied and deeply astounded.
Next stop was the Chapel of the Holy Cross. It was built out of the surrounding red rocks and it gives you a very nice view in all directions. From what I know, they don't hold masses there. I think it's just a place for reflection lang talaga. The way up was kind of steep but it wasn't hard to park. Cars are only allowed up to a certain area then you have to walk up na. From there, we drove to Tlaquepaque. It's a small village/community that sells a wide range of arts and crafts. It's a nice place din to take pictures. :)
Our final stop I would say is the best one. Not only for its view but also the experience. We drove farther down to Sedona to check out the Devil's Bridge. It's the largest sandstone arch in the area and it's takes about a mile from the point trail to reach it. It was a difficult hike coz the rock staircases are really steep. But once you get to the bridge, iba na yung feeling and super mawawala yung pagod mo. It's sooo spectacular talaga. Try not to look down nga lang when you're there coz kakabahan ka talaga. :)
By the time we reached home, it was dinner time na. With such an eventful day, all we wanted was to just eat and sleep. As in knocked down. Sunday was spent with a lazy brunch. We all thought of just cooking gourmet food but of course - we ended up buying KFC and panda. And of course, coldstone.
I will post more pictures if I don't get too lazy. ;p But for now, hope these would do. ♥
