Interesting insight into Sam, to see her uncomfortable with someone who was raised in a patriarchal society, and to see Sam almost surprised that she can learn something from a woman that came from that.

“Sha’re nods, the mysterious smile on her face giving Sam the ridiculous feeling she’s just passed some unspoken test.” Is exactly the line that sums this fic up perfectly for me- passing the test to open up a friendship, to pass into a new beginning, a test of acceptance of the past, and the road ahead.

“Sam is surprised no one before had ever discovered this simple secret to getting Sam Carter to spill her guts: talk to her in the middle of intense exertion when she’s too distracted to hold back. Luckily most of the time she had spent involved in exertion during the last decade, she was under fire from bad guys, and no one had the time or inclination to talk. Did she honestly just feel gratitude to the Jaffa for being a pain in her ass? She’s definitely losing it.” Very nice. Totally Sam, her quirky humor and all. Perfect explanation of why she opens up now in a very non-Carter way to a person who is not her team.

Lovely fic all around. Though, I know what you meant about it being Oh. So. Tempting. to add some ship. (heh!) It’s a nice premise in which to consider how S/J would handle their new freedom from the regs while also balancing their new celebrity. Not to mention what to do career-wise now that they’ve won. Wow, that’s a lot to handle when a relationship is new and changing and fledgling in it’s own right. Sequel perhaps? *nudge nudge*

Oy, another sequel, just what I need. ;)

I had a really, really hard time with this fic, but it was very interesting to think about Sha're and how Sam might interact with her, which of course is the whole reason I signed up for this in the first place.

Thank you so much!
