YOU POSTED IT! HORRAY!!!! THIS FIC WAS SO SO SO SO SO SO AWESOME. I reiterate that my favorite part was Skaara. But there were so many parts that blew me away. Thinking maybe Janet was alive in this AU since we already had Sam not rescued by her boys. And the escape not being an escape. And Charlie. And the shooting and the Grace-like kiss that made Sam always question reality and then Jack too and just...
OMG! This is so wonderfully good. I think it's one of my favorite fics of yours, and since you're one of my favorite all time writers anyway...
Oooh, plus I get to use one of my favorite icons as feedback. :-D
Yay, Skaara! I still think that was the best part of writing this fic, getting to bring back all these characters. (And, you know, possibly whumping Jack and Sam. ;)
Thank you so much! I have been so excited about this fic for a while now. Though, hilariously enough, it was actually this season of Fringe that finally got me really moving on finishing it. The idea that if a double of someone you were close to was switched in, would you notice?
Ooooh, I thought you'd been a little quiet lately. A gifty! And it's for us, and it has boxes inside of boxes, inside of boxes, and every one of them polished and shiny with little pearls
( ... )
Yes, you never know when I am so quiet if I am hitting writer's block or actually concocting something. ;) I had a lot of fun playing with the dichotomy of Jack's faith and Sam's skepticism, which I think really encapsulates these two. Jack, for all his cynicism and brokenness, is still more of a believer, especially when it comes to Sam, I think. Even if you just say he trusts his instincts. And Sam's feelings for Jack have never been something she was entirely comfortable with (especially with the Replicator using that against her for so long).
The final crowning glory to this is that it is nevertheless Jack who is still looking over his shoulder, checking to find that it is real, until he confirms it with her presence. Is this because of Jack's hard-earned knee-jerk suspicion, or because he would always have had to pinch himself to believe that he could be so lucky, that his hopeless wish could come true? Perhaps for both reasons?
Or perhaps something even more nefarious? What could Jack's mind be trying to tell him? Hmmmmm....
“Just once, I’d like to be weak enough to believe that.” That line right there...Wow! And that is just one of the many great lines in this story.
The way that you write...Woah. Reading this story I went thru an array of emotions-sadness, joy, tension, relief... shock. Please keep writing and thanks again for the story!
Love this fic so much that wanted to ask if I can store a copy of it on my computer(I have a folder that I keep stories that I like to read over and over)?
