Hee! Thanks! This AU has taken me completely by surprise, I must admit. So fun to play with! :)

Everybody needs an AU to play in. Or seven. ;P I may have an extra story or three from AUs I've been writing stashed away on my hard drive. It's fun to play 'what if?'

I really like this one, especially that nod to Sam's history with Jonas through Tom stepping as if this isn't the first time it's happened - nice bit of detail there. The only thing I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around is whether the Jack that went to Abydos in this AU is more Kurt Russell's characterization of Jack or RDA's Jack, or did he become RDA's Jack once he returned? I'm seeing shades of both in this story, which I like - it's not just events that diverge and change by a chance meeting, it's personalities as well. I like that Sam's a little more brash, and that Jack's just a little bit sharper around the edges. It's a good combination. :)

God, so many AUs. All so tempting!!! Glad to know you also suffer from this insanity. ;)

Yeah, I hear you about Jack. In my head, he is always RDA. I just roughened his edges a little bit. I figure he isn't totally RDA-like until after Children of the Gods and settling into the SGC and all. I do love that Sam really has no concept of Jack as CO or even military, so she's never had any reason to bite her tongue or act professional, so she can just be playful and be herself (even if I think this early Sam, who hasn't really found her calling quite yet, is still unsettled and unsure, even if she's beginning to settle into herself).

Thanks!

Meep. As I said, I had to wait ages to post! (That has never happened to me before.) And apparently stories do not leave my poor brain alone until they are posted, so it just sat there and spawned sequels. Lol.

Thanks!

You and your AUs. :-P

I love the mix of characterizations you have here--early Sam with early Jack, and neither quite who we saw in the beginning.

Jack looks at his watch. “Well, I figure that if you don’t take your hand off her in the next thirty seconds, she’s going to drop you on your ass. I think it’ll be pretty fun to watch.”

I thought so, too. I was kinda disappointed she didn't end up needing to in the end. *g*

I know! I'm DOOMED. Stupid brain.

They are kind of fun to play with when they don't have the hang-ups I am used to using as parameters. I always suspected that Sam free of her military trappings would shock the hell out of Jack. Lol.

Yeah, Sam only had to deck Jonas the one time. Sad. ;)

Thank you. For working with a Jack that knows Sam can kick major ass (even though it took him a little longer in season 1 canon). Thank you for creating a Sam who is strong and flawed as well.

Thank you.

Thank you! I'm having fun imagining these two at this early stage. And I think Jack is usually smart enough not to step on toes, especially this early, still kind of prickly Sam. But he already saw evidence that she can take care of herself. Not that he didn't come over just in case backup was needed. Lol. And I just have this thought that pre-Stargate Sam was maybe just a little lost (that that is the thing that Daniel, Jack, Sam, and Teal'c all had in common. A little lost, not really coming in on their own until SG-1.)

Thanks!
