Fannish Reboot

I spent some of my spare time today watching old Stargate eps. It's been *way* too long since I've done that. First was Out of Mind and Into the Fire, both of which made me cackle with glee, because omg, this wonderful show is so much cheesier than I remembered. And I love it like whoa. Then I watched Fair Game just for Sam's promotion scene (she's so shiny and young and everyone's so proud of her!) Although, I have to say that whenever I see a scene where they are doing some speech and they have the podium right there in the Stargate, I keep thinking how stupid that is because whoosh a wormhole is going to come and wipe everyone out (because, really, if you think about it, with an incoming wormhole you wouldn't see all seven chevrons engage, it would just connect and be whoosh there goes the Secretary of Defense).  And last but not least, of course, a Divide and Conquer rewatch. Sigh. Much like my beloved Stargate, my glee and love of this stupid cute pairing will just never fade. They make me SO DAMN GLEEFUL. Though, I noticed this time that beyond the Sam and Jack ship-fest, this ep is crawling with other great little pairing moments for fans to run crazy with. Like Sam and Janet as she's getting sedated. Jack and Daniel and the yo-yo scene (and yes, my brain also momentarily wondered if there is any Jack/Daniel/Anise/Freya fic out there, before it answered it's own question, 'don't be ridiculous, this is fandom we're talking about. Of course there is!') And on a non-shippy note, Hammond and Janet are just made of awesome together. I am convinced they got together at the end of each week to share a glass of scotch from Hammond's secret stash and complain to each other about what a pain in the ass SG-1 is. And if the designated day came and SG-1 was lost or missing or on a dangerous mission, they just toasted SG-1 and talked about Cassie and Hammond's grandkids and how they all grew up too fast to cover for their worry.

Oh, show. I could not love you more. And now I will go read my favorite fanfics.
