Fic: Down to the Bone (Sam/Jack)

Hallelujah. Fic. This one followed me home from work on Thursday. I have no idea where it came from. I think I can say with some certainty that this is the first fic I've written from start to finish in one day. Weird. BUT! Words! Yay!

Annerb fic - OH the glee!! And the tears! you made me cry - the bit with her by the bed and the beeping of the monitor. That is just the way it feels - wonderfully written...

And how I love the line:
"“Carter,” is his predictable response, the word flavored with warning and she's beginning to wonder if that one word makes up his entire vocabulary when it comes to dealing with her..."
'cause it is so very, very true - all the inflection RDA could always put into that name. Oh.

I did notice one small typo:
"...but tomorrow she's burying -his- father and she's got nothing left but a steady stomach and the bald truth."

Beautiful fic - thankyouthankyouthankyou!!! Have a wonderful Monday!!

Oops! Thanks! That's what I get for posting in the wee hours of the morning. :D

Glad you enjoyed. I still have no idea why the rewrite of Threads. *eyes pile of wips* This may just be a new form of rebellion from my muse. Lol.

It doesn't matter why Threads, because it was beautiful and touching and sad and hopeful all at different intervals.

I left a gushing review over at fanfiction.net so I'll keep this one brief - and beg for more from your recently captured muse! :)

Thank you! Yes, I hope the muse will toe the line from now on, but you never know with her. She's a tad perverse. I have no idea where she gets that. *shifty eyes*

Thank you! It feels so good to actually be writing again. And not just because a ficathon is hot on my heels! :)

I knew if I hung around long enough there would be fic. :)

Really nicely done. As much as I enjoy Threads there is just that lingering sense of it not being quite right and I like your version. Great Sam POV all the way through.

Haha. Yes, eventually my muse had to come back from Fiji. I love the *idea* of 'Threads', I just was less than pleased with the execution, personally. Why is it that Sam just never gets to finish? Lol.

Thank you!

That was just beautifully angsty. Perfect voice for the characters.

Thank you! The angst is how I know my muse is working again and didn't bring any tropical diseases home with it. ;)

I know I always say this, but it's always true: this is a really lovely story. I love how you get into Sam's head, and I especially love the realization that calling off the wedding has to be about what is right for Sam, not how Jack feels about her. It's subtle, but so important.

So, yes, excellent story! And you're back and writing! Yay! :)

Thanks! I agree, I guess it's important to my personal fanon that whatever Sam decided about Pete was more about herself than Jack. He was just one piece of the puzzle that helped her realize what she wanted and what she thought she should want (for me that's right up there with the fact that Jack really did care more about her being happy than getting the girl for himself.)

Now, let's just hope the muse hangs around for a bit. I'm trying to hide the Europe brochures.
