Ohhh, really, really good.

But the rules have been in place since long before she was old enough to think to protest, so she dutifully rides in the military transport to the SGC, gets rolled into her mother’s infirmary where a doctor who is all wrong for the post now plies her trade. She’s just too…tall.

I SO agree. Sighhhh.

Thank you! Poor Cass, she really has had a roller coaster of a life, hasn't she?

Oh, this is just lovely! You really capture the contradictions of Vala and how hard it is for Cassie to have lost her mothers and her planet and figure out life. So many great insights in this short fic.

Thank you! I love fics like this where I come out of it feeling like I've learned a lot about the characters that I hadn't expected to. I promise to be back to the stupid cute soon. ;)

this is amazing. you've pegged Cassie and Vala here. I can't seem to think of the proper words to express how much I love this.

Thank you! I was sort of surprised how much actually had in common once I sat down and thought about it. Very glad you enjoyed it. :)

I started this with the thought that Vala, knowing practically nothing about being a parent really, wouldn't know how to treat Cassie as anything other than as an adult (I notice very independent people always seem to expect the same of everyone around them). And that being treated like an adult first, might help Cassie figure some things out, because there is nothing for her to react against or hide behind as the petulant child, so to speak. So, uh, yeah. That was my thought process. Lol.

Thank you so much for reading!

At first I was disappointed because it was gen and not sam/jack yumminess (of either the fluff or angst variety). But WOW!! Oh so much goodness - I really like how you point out Sam's ambition which usually gets lost in her more kickass qualities but yet makes her oh so human...

And Cassie's reaction to Sam spending a year in another galaxy two years after she takes an assignment at Area 51 to spend more time with Cassie (and gets pulled back to the SGC after 3 months) - awesome!

Ha! I was wondering about that Sam and Jack icon. But, yes, I occasionally stray to gen. :P

Yeah, still not sure about that strange reference in early season 9 about Sam being in Nevada to be closer to Cassie. I can only imagine she meant being on world all the time, because if not, what the heck was Cassie doing in Nevada? Lol. Cassie has not had an easy life, but I kind of like the thought that she still manages to be the most normal of the group.

Thank you!
