Jack rolled over and tugged in vain on the blanket over his shoulder. They couldn't dial in to the SGC. Again. The irony of it all was that if Carter had been there, Jack felt sure she could have had this problem fixed in a few minutes. Siler and company had been at it for a few days. He fought with the obstinate corner and pulled it closer to his neck.
Daniel's quiet voice came out of the darkness. "Jack, if you fidget one more time I am going to zat you, I swear."
"Oh, shut up, Daniel. We didn’t exactly pack for this. The weather forecast said cold, not snowstorm from hell!"
Jack felt Carter stir against his back, heard her breathing shift as she came awake. "What? What's wrong?" She'd been out as soon as they got settled.
Teal'c's grumpy baritone answered from somewhere behind him, “O'Neill is unable to go to sleep and Daniel Jackson is offering his assistance."
Sam giggled softly, shaking pleasantly against him. “And I thought the Colonel could manage to sleep anytime, anywhere.”
Daniel chimed in with, “That is what he always claimed.” Jack could feel the movement of Daniel's hands as they tried to find an appropriate place to rest on Carter. “You know, this would probably work better if we were all facing the same way.”
Jack sighed deeply and tried to convince himself he was home and it was warm and quiet and he was not stuck off-world in a tiny cave with his team while an unexpected raging blizzard howled outside.
“O'Neill is unable to go to sleep and Daniel Jackson is offering his assistance."
Hee! That sums up Teal'c and Daniel and Jack, all in one delightful sentence! And Daniel trying to find a safe place to put his hands on Sam... ::giggles::
My pleasure. I am so glad you enjoyed it! Your opening exchange with Annerb actually set this rolling in my head. Apparently, snuggling + stranded off world speaks to me very clearly. :)
Great story! Jack could feel the movement of Daniel's hands as they tried to find an appropriate place to rest on Carter. “You know, this would probably work better if we were all facing the same way.” Lol! Yes, Daniel, that's probably true... What a lovely bit of understatement. :)
