Friday Five: Entertainment Edition

May 14, 2010 13:24

Since this year doesn't include a "post once a week" resolution, I've sort of fallen by the wayside. Never fear! (If you feared at all, that is.) What's weird is that I've had a social life. Usually it's just me and the beag sitting at home doing things. He's plotting world domination; I'm watching TVDs and SPN.

There are quite a few books I'm looking forward to reading this summer. Not that I get a summer break, but they'll be new releases. Had a battle with amazon.com. They won. This round. Had to contain my rage with the NOOK release at B&N. Ugh. I'm not against technology, but I don't want to lose the very tactile experience of reading an actual book in my hand. Call me old fashioned. It wouldn't be the first time. ;)

Here's this week's shout-outs (which pretty much encompass almost a month of activities):
  1. Saw Shakespeare's OTHELLO, which happens to be one of my favs. That line about putting out the (candle) light and then putting out the (Desdemona's life) light brings me shivers every time. The cast was great. Iago was evil. A good night!
  2. My brother and I tried out for the Amazing Race. It snowed on us as we waited in line outside. Crossing my eyes on this one. Could be life-changing event!
  3. Indulged and took an entire week off work without going on a fancy holiday trip. On the upside, my "house" has never been cleaner. On the downside, the things I should've done didn't get done. I did make some manic vids though. Win there.
  4. Went to the 30 Seconds to Mars concert (by myself). I'm not sure if it could've been better if I'd gone with someone else. The problem is that so few people I know actually like the band. Here's a vid (not shot by me) of lead singer, Jared Leto, crowd surfing. I might turn this into a larger post.
  5. Still practicing the guitar for 30 mins every week day and probably an hour or more on the weekends. It feels like I've hit a plateau though. I'm not getting any better (but not getting any worse either!). Doesn't mean I'll stop. But I do feel like I may have reached the limits of my ability in only a few months. Lame.

Hope all of you have plans for a good weekend. Sometimes not having plans makes for a good weekend too! >:D
