quilts and scrapping

I've added some new quilt pictures to the gallery http://pics.livejournal.com/annekrogers/gallery/00008s89
there are simple descriptions with each, so I'll say no more about them here.

Other quilt work I need to do is work on the tiny 4 patch I'm doing with Ada's bundle of fabrics, it's annoying me as the fabric seems very inclined to distort, so I had to reduce the size, but even then, after putting them into rows although the stitching appears accurate, they then after careful pressing are not right and I have to wet them and pin to the ironing board! I suppose the good thing is that there are tricks to solve these kind of problems.

I've also started to prepare blocks for sewing, using a technique with freezer paper and glue to make circle piecing easy. I plan to prepare a batch then sew in one go, so in spare moments I'm at the ironing board, ironing, snipping and so on. It will be a kind of christmas quilt, the fabric feels Christmassy, although my best identification of one of the fabrics is gerber daisies, it just some how feels like poinsettias! It's also green, red and gold! It might be interesting to quilt it with various Christmas shapes, I'll have to do some practicing before doing that! I also feel an urge for it to have a frilly border, which may well be a little insane!

Today I also rephotographed the firefighters scrapbook page that's in the gallery, I'd sent it in to Scrapbook Inspirations as it was done from their sketch challenge, I turned it into a flap and they seemed impressed with that and asked for a better photo, I don't know if I've suceeded though. Whilst I was at it, I photographed some other pages that happened to be stored in the same wallet and sent them too. I never seem to have scrapped the right things for the readers galleries, but I know they do ask readers to participate in things like the sketch challenge, it would be pretty cool to be asked to do something like that.

I'm going to a crop at the Bees Knees for the first time on Friday, I don't feel either excited or nervous yet, but I have started trying to organise stuff so I can be productive.

We've been trying to organise the study more anyway, which included moving the shelves that were in our garage back in England our of the garage where they don't really fit (there are shelves fitted already in all the available space) into the closet, which feels a bit wierd, but we have no clothes in the closet as we have ample hanging space in our own room and an additional wardrobe in the study. We'll have to reevaluate the use of space, but the shelves seemed a necessary step to getting organised. Andrew has all of a sudden decided to sort a box of paper, so that's now all over the room, I hope he sees it through, though it could be hampered somewhat by the fact the handles for the filing cabinet have not emerged, so we haven't been putting anything in it. The good thing is, at the bottom of the box a DVD Nathanael was looking for today appeared.

My study of David is going well, though I haven't actually got to David yet, I'm still on Saul, but it's all relevant! I'm going to have to figure out how I carry on working through this, whilst also doing the James study for church, I don't want to just stop David to substitute James, when I know that it's only 5 studies for 5 weeks, with a break at some point.

It was odd at bible study this morning (it was actually a brunch between studies), I ended up sharing that since attending the church, only 3 people had called me, one of whom I already knew, I think people found this quite shocking, perhaps thinking other people must have been doing it, or somehow that I didn't need it. I know I come across as fairly outgoing and confident, but that doesn't help you make more than superficial friendships and right now I feel that as a family we are fairly needy. There was one bright spot though, a lady sat opposite me, who was new to the study has children similar ages, we swapped phone numbers and plan to have a play date, I WILL call her, I'm my own worst enemy sometimes, because I don't latch on to tentative suggestions and make sure they happen.

On a slightly more depressing side of things, I've noticed that I'm regularly getting pain in my forearms and ankles and feet, it doesn't seem related to anything I'm doing, only made slightly worse by doing something like typeing this (my problematic thumb is much more of a problem). It doesn't prevent me from exercising, but I do wonder a little if I need to limit the amount of exercise I do, it's a balancing act, I need to do enough to get my core strong to improve my pelvic problems, but not too much to cause generalised pain and fatigue, at some point I'll have to stop the pilates section of physical therapy anyway, as it won't be medically necessary, so instead of doing that twice a week, I may just switch to one class per week with the occasional private session. I'm aware that the point at which I stop that will be a vunerable time, it will be easy to put off joining a class, and say I'll do it next week etc. but on the other hand, I don't feel I have the resources to join a class right now either.
