Finals week is coming to an end. That's one of the more significant events of every year of my life, at least for one more year. Only one more year.
Well, let's see. I've finished my 298 final project, turned in my 315 paper, taken my Japanese final (more about that later), and all I have left is my oceanography exam tomorrow. After that, I'm done for another summer. This summer I'm going to be working at M&IE and enjoying my FIRST CAR (!!) which I am getting in a couple of weeks. Also, my 21st birthday is June 14th and I'm spending it at my sister's place in Columbus. It's going to be a *blast* assuming we don't die of bronchitis again. ;)
So. The Japanese final. Well... it was hard. Harder than I expected. I studied a *lot* but I also didn't pay as much attention as I should have this semester, plus I missed a bunch of class for various reasons (and in some cases, no reason at all... I sort of dropped the soap this semester). I just... I don't really know what to expect there. I can only hope that I did ok enough to advance to the next level. If not... well... I'll deal with that when the time comes. I have serious problems dealing with classes that aren't performance-oriented. And I have issues with the way they are teaching Japanese these days. But I'm not going to waste a lot of time bitching about that now. What's done is done, so all I can do is wait.
I spent some time talking with Hayashi-sensei recently, and I was reminded of why I really love that teacher. He says that of all his students he felt that I was the most academically oriented (i.e. the most likely to go on to grad school). Since I had banished the possibility of grad school from my mind, it was nice to hear that from someone I respect.
So anyway, later today I'm doing something monumentous. I'm BUYING NEW CLOTHES. (omgwtfbbq!!) I realized the other day that almost all of my shirts are either a) 5+ years old, b) hand-me-downs from my mom or my sister, c) totally ratty and falling apart, or d) all of the above. I spend money on computers, video games, books, food, whatever, but I never spend any money on clothes. So I'm taking my latest paycheck and going to the mall to get some new shirts and bottoms for summer (I'm actually okay for pants and jeans). Wish me luck!
Anyway, I suppose that's all the news that's fit to print right now. Oh, Kenny spilled two-month old hamburger fat on our carpet and now our apartment smells like rotten milk. Fun!
