I am at all times sleeping

Mar 10, 2004 11:52

Hooray! I finally slept through the night last night, and felt okay when I woke up! I'm tired now, but that's just because I'm still sleep-deprived on account of it being midterm hell week, but that's okay. Only two left to go!

most cell phones support those things these days, if not all of them. the important thing is to get a good plan.

Should I go with verizon or stay far far away from them? It's probably the easiest, but you have had bad experiences there so I dunno.

You may want to go with a prepaid phone plan if you just want real basic services like that. I'm not sure which plans support text messaging and e-mail, but I think mine has text messaging and I pay about $20 every 3 months. My plan is Virgin Mobile's, and it supports web SMS (so people who are at a computer can message your phone, at the very least). It's a very inexpensive service if you don't plan on using it much. I only use it maybe about a minute a day (and since $20 buys you about 80 minutes of service, that works, cuz I refill it every 90 days).
Unfortunately, I don't think Virgin Mobile phones can be bought in C-U. However, you can go to the Chicagoland area and pick up a phone, and then bring it back and it'll still work (but it'll have a 630/847/etc. area code). Still, nice for me :) There are other services which are more popular, but they also require quicker recharges (30-60 days) and generally just cost more.

I think I've decided to go with SBC, actually. It's a good plan and you get a free phone, which I'm all about. And since we don't have long distance service on our landline I want some minutes to call my mom and dad and sister once in a while.

Yeah... here's what I do for that:
Pay $25 for local service landline
Bought my phone for $60 (including an initial $10 for 3 months, which I added $20 to later)
Pay $7 a month for cell phone
Pay about $5 a month for the 3 cent a minute phonecards from Sam's club (which make it so I don't need a long distance provider, and I get sweet rates). So I figure I'm paying about 40 bucks total, and I get all I need in that. And the cell phone stuff rolls over if I don't use all of it in 3 months (which I never have, but I might actually this time... even though I had like $35 stored up)
