I had the strangest elevator experience of my life today. I got into the elevator in Davenport Hall this morning with a girl and a boy who looked totally normal. They even said "good morning" to each other, so I figured they were probably in the same class. Anyway, I am somewhat zoned and leery as I tend to be in the morning, so I just hit the button for my floor and stared straight ahead. We rode in silence for about half a minute, then I looked at my watch. When I looked up, the boy was staring at me. I was about to say, "What?" when he reached out and put his hand on my arm, then said perfectly solemnly, "Is there anyone out there? 'Cause it's getting harder and harder to breathe." I just sort of laughed nervously, then thankfully we got to my floor so I had to get off anyway.
My theory is that he had the song stuck in his head and he just wanted to mess with me a little. But still, that was a pretty weird thing to hear from a complete stranger. Elevators do make for some awkward social situations. Anyone else have any weird elevator stories to share?
