I have already posted this everywhere else, so why not here:

Congress is holding hearings on SOPA, a bill that could, quite literally, kill the internet. It would allow companies to force ISPs to block websites, without any sort of oversights or any legal proceeding. Anyone posting so much as a link to copyrighted content could find themselves liable under this. Every social networking, video uploading, and blogging site is threatened by this, and the real shame of it all is that this will do nothing to curb piracy, because pirates will STILL be able to get around this. This will actually only hurt the non-pirate people and the non-pirate parts of the internet. And it seems that the people who wrote this law, do not understand it.
