Like the Mad Hatter, I'm always late

1. But not for this! Prompts and sign-ups are available now for femgenficathon!!! OMG, I did this last year and had such fun. You should try this too:) ETA: my prompt!! 20) Some knowledge and some song and some beauty must be kept for those days before the world again plunges into darkness. --Marion Zimmer Bradley (1930-1999), American author of fantasy novels, short stories and anthologies, poet, composer, editor and co-founder of the Society for Creative Anachronism. *twirls* So many wonderful possibilities!!

2. Had a good four-day weekend (one furlough day, two weekend days, and the Memorial Day holiday). I took part in a Memorial Day parade yesterday - rode on a "float" sponsored by our local PFLAG chapter and got to hold a photo of Ellen DeGeneres while some other people held photos of LGBT heroes like Walt Whitman, Leonard Bernstein, Martina Navratilova, Harvey Milk and my very own congress-critter, Rep. Tammy Baldwin. I had a good time, despite the heat.

3. Mr. Annearchy and I have gotten into the Swedish films of Stieg Larsson's "Girl" trilogy. In recent weeks we've streamed The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest on Netflix. I liked both, though I thought Dragon Tattoo was better because I haven't read the books yet and didn't really know what to expect. I just heard that Daniel Craig is making an English-language version of Dragon Tattoo. Hmmm... I'm not sure this movie needed to be made. IMO the Swedish films are fine; you just have to READ THE SUBTITLES...

4. So. American Idol season 10. Yawwwwn. Didn't watch anything except a bit of the auditions, and whatever night David Cook sang The Last Goodbye. Otherwise, didn't care. As for the winner, Scotty McCreery.... his voice creeped me out in the auditions; the basso voice coming from Alfred E. Neumann's face just seems wrong. So, whatever. I guess I just don't care about Idol any more. *clings furiously to season 7*
