1. Our first snowfall of the 2010-11 winter has come and gone. We were lucky to get only maybe 3 - 3.5 inches. However, the National Weather Service was predicting up to 7 inches, so people went nuts (as though they'd never seen snow before) and it seemed like everyone, including me, was buying groceries last night instead of today. I was very tired when I got back, and by bedtime I realized I was having a fibro flare. I slept badly last night and didn't get up until 9:45 a.m. - but I was glad I'd done my grocery shopping already, which meant I could have a very lazy day today. Had some fun on the new Wii with darling daughter. We are both horrible Wii golfers but it was fun to try that, as well as playing some Wii tennis again. I definitely want to get some non-sports games, though; maybe I'll do that with whatever $$ or gift cards I get for Christmas.
2. On Thursday one of my co-workers mentioned that he was putting his older daughter's IKEA loft bed, disassembled, in front of his house so that anyone could take it for free, and he was going to put a notice on the local Freecycle group. As it happened, Mr. Annearchy and Swen were going to be only about 2 miles from my co-workers house that afternoon, so on their way back from their errand, they went to his house and picked up the bed pieces, which they brought home in Mr. A's truck. I've been telling DD that she could use a double bed that's in our storage locker if she cleaned up her room. This IKEA loft bed requires a double mattress. Apparently this has given DD the motivation she has needed to start cleaning out the junk in her room. (Imagine a typically bad teenage bedroom, then multiply by 10...) I'm hoping this actually works! I know Mr. A wants to get those bed pieces out of our garage, because they're in the way of where he usually moves the snowblower to get it out of the garage.
3. We're also enjoying Netflix Instant Play on the Wii. We watched Bruce Willis in SURROGATES Thursday night (that was pretty good), and Mr. A and DD have both watched other things through Netflix without me. I guess we'll watch something tonight after dinner. I really do need to print out my existing queue, though; I had at least 100 movies on it and there's no way I'll remember them just by what pops up on the screen.
4. I've been watching a couple of interesting shows on Discovery about the U.S. Secret Service, the government organization whose agents protect the President, First Family and other high dignitaries. The first show, about protecting the president, showed some of the technology that the Secret Service might be using (since they are, rightly, very guarded about this stuff). The second program, on right now, features interviews with President Kennedy's personal and family detail. OMG we've just got up to November 22, 1963... these guys are going to be really choked up in a second. Must watch.
