Well, that was... disappointing

We had our garage sale today. Actually had to set up in the garage at first, because the weather was slightly uncooperative; it had rained overnight, and when I went downstairs at 7:30 a.m. to set up, it was still drizzling a bit. We had cleaned up the driveway really nicely last night, but I was reluctant to put things out there with it so drippy. DD was a trooper today; in fact, she was full of ideas about how to display things better, and she followed through really well. Long story short, we ended up being fairly disappointed with the garage sale. We were out there from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and grossed a total of $16.50 - really pathetic. We had some stuff (books mostly) as cheap as 25 cents, and the most expensive thing was $10 (an ornate mirror). Of course we didn't have any big-ticket items like pieces of furniture, so that probably hurt. I was really surprised that nobody bought any of the stuffed animals. Whatevs. Anyway, at 2 p.m. we packed up everything and brought the toys, books, stuffed animals and adult clothes to Goodwill. Then we drove over to Plato's Closet, where we wanted to sell most of DD's clothes. We were sort of pissed off that they wouldn't buy ANY of her stuff; they said it was all too old and not "name brand" enough. Bah, humbug. We did manage to buy her a cute top at Burlington Coat Factory; she'll wear that to the family reunion/my Dad's birthday party in New Orleans next weekend. (EEEEE!!! Only a week from today!!!) We finished cleaning up the garage and putting things away and have mostly been lazy since then, though I did mop the kitchen floor after dinner tonight. So the garage sale turned out to be a whole lot of work for very little monetary return, but at least we got a lot of stuff out of the house, which was at least as important.

Anything interesting going on in your world today?
