1. Apparently I missed a couple of anniversaries yesterday.
A. Belated happy birthday to the lovely
k_t18!! I hope you had a lovely day.
B. I knew it was coming up; I just forgot the exact date until today.
I share my LJ anniversary with the wondermous
longtimegone and even asked her if we might have got our "codes" from the same person. Yes, that was back in the day of needing a code to get even a free LJ. Many thanks to those of you who've been along for any part of the my six-year ride. As my current header says, "Life on the moon couldn't be any stranger." Or to quote the Grateful Dead, "What a long, strange trip it's been." (My life, not LJ.) ♥ ♥ ♥ you all!
3. Friday, DD and I both participated, to varying degrees, in the
Day of Silence. She literally went to school with duct tape over her mouth (she was afraid she would start chatting if she didn't). Fortunately it was not a normal school day; they spent the entire day at a student engineering exposition at our local Big University. When she got home, she ate dinner in silence and spent the evening in silence in her room (though I suspect she was online on her iPod, via WiFi). For my part, I chose not to initiate conversations and to limit the talking I had to do as much as I could. The one place I fell down was in the afternoon (see #4) but otherwise I did pretty well.
4. At 3 o'clock on Friday I got to hang out with the wonderful
dreamcoat_mom, who was in town with a bunch of high school kids for the state forensics tournament. We met on State Street and got ice cream at the Chocolate Shoppe (
herminia and
ladybluestar, we tried to go to Cold Stone Creamery, but it was much too crowded, so we crossed the street). Anyway, it was great fun chatting and catching up with her after not seeing her in person in 2 years. We both got the chocolate raspberry truffle ice cream, she in a sundae and me in a root beer float. YUMMM.
Hope y'all had a good weekend. Houston-area peeps, stay safe and out of that ridiculous rain.
