1. Last night, between about 7:45 and 8:30, our electricity flickered several times, causing a momentary power cut/outage in our house each time. I was on my computer then, and each time the computer popped off then came back on again. I was watching TV (the E.R. finale) too and my ancient TV had to be turned on again each time. That was annoying, but not nearly as annoying as when the power finally went out for real, sometime between 8:30 and 8:45. When it became apparent, after a minute or two, that the electricity was not coming back soon, the three of us gathered in the living room. Naturally, we couldn't remember where any of our flashlights were, so we navigated around the house using the bright screens of our cellphones and DD's iPod. We spent over an hour hanging out, mostly just talking. At one point DD read Edgar Allen Poe's "The Telltale Heart" to us by the light of one of those clip-on book lights. I set an alarm on my cellphone for 5:30 a.m. (my usual wakeup time on workdays) in case the power didn't come on again during the night, and we all went to bed shortly after 10 p.m. I must have been sleeping very lightly when the radio next to my bed came on suddenly and loudly around 11:15 p.m. (which time I discovered on my watch). My cellphone woke me up right at 5:30. I guess we'll have to reset a lot of clocks later today. Anyway, other than the wrong clocks, everything seems back to normal this morning. I checked my local LJ community and discovered that someone ran their car into a utility pole about a mile from our house, causing flickering in the neighborhood and, apparently, outages on some blocks but not others. Our entire kidney-shaped block was out, but we could see lights on in houses on the next streets.
2. I am so totally glad it's Friday. Srsly. This big project at work is going to give me a major case of carpal tunnel syndrome.
3. Weather is nice-ish today, sunny and expected high around 50F, not bad for early April. Of course, the forecast for Sunday is 3-7 inches of heavy, wet snow. Ugh. Guess I'd better get all my weekend errands done tomorrow.
4.
