Where did the weekend go?

Well, that went faster than I'd thought it would...

1. Saturday, except for going out to buy groceries, I pretty much sat around the house blowing my nose and RPing. Felt like crap but at least my cold stayed mostly in my head. Took some Dayquil and drank several cups of Celestial Seasonings Tea for Colds, which seems to have helped some. Watched a bunch of the LIVE EARTH concerts on several cable channels and got to see Melissa Etheridge, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Madonna and some other bands I can't remember 2 days later *shrugs* I'm feeling a lot better this morning; I think a couple hours in the sun and fresh air (see below) helped me a lot.

2. Sunday I got up at 7:15 a.m. because we were supposed to leave the house by 9:30 to go to a family party about 125 miles northwest of here, so we figured on a 2-hour drive. We ended up not leaving until 10 because we couldn't get any of the online maps to this place (which we'd never visited before) to print out. So we left with just printed verbal instructions, which turned out to be okay. Mr Annearchy's cousins Don and Donna, who had spent their whole lives down near Lake Geneva, WI, until a couple years ago, when they moved to a rural area south of Tomah, WI (near Wildcat Mountain State Park). It's a gorgeous place, out in the "driftless area" that was untouched by the glaciers that rolled over much of Wisconsin thousands of years ago, and D&D have a spectacular view in a humongous, gorgeous log home they just built. There must have been at least 50 people (closer to 100) at this party, which was mostly folks from the nearby town. We went primarily to see Mr. Annearchy's parents, who had flown up from Florida to spend the weekend with D&D (Don is Grandma's nephew) and then drive up to north-central Wisconsin Tuesday to see his remaining brother and sister. They're all in their 80s now so I can see the importance of taking any opportunity to see them. The drive there was great, the party was fine, and we had a good time talking with Mr. A's parents. I spent some time talking alone with my MIL about darling daughter's upcoming visit with them next month, sort of a pre-planning thing. The only downer was the drive back. We almost got stuck in a huuuuuge traffic jam on Interstate 94, just outside Wisconsin Dells, so I bailed out at US Hwy. 12 and took that most of the way back home. We ended up not getting home until almost 8 p.m. *sigh* So it was a very long day.

3. Darling daughter had a great time on her weekend trip with the "older kids" from church (all middle- and high-schoolers). Friend MM had a good time too. DD came back a bit sunburned and tired at 9:15 yesterday morning. She didn't want to go to the thing we went to because she suspected (wisely, it turned out) there would be no kids for her to hang out with. (There were some kids, but they all looked like they had been dragged there unwillingly by their parents ;) So she stayed with MM all day, went swimming a couple of times and had dinner with them. She came back at 8 (they live across the street) and I watched TV with her until 10:00. She's got another soccer game tonight so wish her luck; I hope her team finally wins, or at least scores more than 1 goal.
