1. Happy birthday,
photosinensis!!
Jim, you're one of my oldest (in terms of longevity) friends on LJ. I hope you had a great birthday, fandom son o'mine :D
2. Gah, this crappy air quality is killing me. Either that or my allergies. At any rate my throat seems to have an internal diameter of about 0.001 centimeter lately; it always feels tight and very scratchy. And geesh my voice...if any of y'all remember
the late Selma Diamond who was on NIGHT COURT in the mid-80s, my voice is starting to sound like hers. Or else I'm starting to sound like I'm about 80, which is, you know, a long time from now. Maybe it's time for me to visit an allergist and see if I can get better meds. Claritin is just not cutting it for me. I hope it's not reflux; I haven't had any significant problems with indigestion lately.
3. So I took the bus to work today for the first time in months. I live 6 1/2 miles from where I park my car, then I walk 7 blocks to work. That usually takes a total of 35 minutes. Today I left the house at 7:20, walked 3 blocks to the bus stop, caught the bus at 7;28. Bus left me off downtown at 8:08 (40 minutes, instead of the 20 it takes me to drive) then I walked 4 blocks and got to work at 8:15. Reversed the process at 4:45; walked 4 blocks to a different bus stop, caught the bus at 5:08 and got let off at 5:38. The best thing about spending so much time on the bus was that I basically read the second half of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets today. I was on around page 160 when I got on the bus and I finished the book right after I got home. So yay. I think that was my 5th time reading it. On the bus this morning I noticed a guy who was at least 30, reading OotP. I probably should have said something to him but I didn't know what to say. Oh well.
4. Our old downstairs TV is now upstairs, in the living room, connected to cable. So yay. But we still need to get some of the other things connected to it, plus move the bookcase back against the wall and fill it with books again. Might be the weekend before we're done. We've been talking about this since New Year's so I'm glad we're finally doing it. It's at least 10 years since I'd seen that TV (only a 20-incher) sitting by itself, not in the huge entertainment center downstairs. It's reallllly tiny :P It's also 17 years old o_O Maybe it's time to get a new one? :D
