Errgh, Monday

1. Did I mention I hate Mondays? At least this week shouldn't be as bad as last. I'm taking 2 vacation days, Tuesday and Friday, because my darling daughter is on spring break this week and I'll have mom duty those 2 days while her dad is buying books. We've got a busy day planned tomorrow, including an allergist appointment some time in the morning.

2. Happy birthday, myrafur!

I hope you have a wonderful birthday (or was it yesterday? I don't see the "My LJ" thinger anymore on my user info page so now I don't know when anyone's birthday is...*sobs*)

3. Hugs to everyone who needs them, especially aenodia and wayfinder38.

4. The weekend was very busy. Daughter had 4 of her preteen friends over to "hang out" (kids that age don't 'play' any more) Saturday afternoon. Three were planned and one just showed up; she lives across the street and often just drops by, and it would've been rude to exclude her, but it did up the noise quotient a lot. Mr. Annearchy and I decided then on a rule of not more than 3 friends over at any one time. Saturday at 5:00 p.m. I took daughter to a sleepover at friend GP's house, where she had dinner too. So Mr. Annearchy and I had a free night. We ended up driving across town through a pouring rain to see Zodiac, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo. Overall it's a very good movie, riveting and really scary in some parts (at one point I covered my eyes, but maybe I'm just a wimp). I did have a production quibble though. Jake was good in his part, but MUCH too young, and overall the makeup designer did NOTHING to show how any of the investigative characters had aged over the course of the movie, which spans from 1969 to 1991!! We see Jake in 1969 with a 6-year-old son, and he looks much too young to be that kid's father. Near the end we see him in 1983, and he doesn't look a day older o_O. Nor did Mark Ruffalo look like someone who'd been on the police force 25 years. Otherwise I liked it a lot and it was worth the longish drive, as that was the only screen showing it.

5. Spent several hours cleaning yesterday. The living room is now mostly presentable. Dining room somewhat less; still some clutter I need to get rid of. At least we can all walk in those areas without anyone tripping.

spring break, hugs, rl, birthdays, movies
