Blah, blah, blah

1. Still not feeling the Christmas lurve, though I'd like to give many thanks to every one of you who left something in my virtual stocking. abigail89, yours was my favorite, though I received many nice virtual gifts.

2. M decided last week (like, Friday) to become a ovolacto-vegetarian. She's happy to drink milk, she doesn't like eggs much but will eat them, but mostly she doesn't want to eat chicken or red meat (though I'm not sure what she thinks about fish). Her friend GP's family are all vegetarians, so I think GP is rubbing off on her (not that that's a bad thing). Mr. Annearchy and I are not interested (at least he isn't) in eliminating all meat from our diets so right now I'm attempting to accommodate M's interest with soy-based products like sausages, veggie burgers, "chik'n nuggets" etc. The big problem I see for M, however, is that she doesn't actually like vegetables, nor does she especially like nuts or beans, which are also good sources of protein. I've tried suggesting that vegetarians need to eat vegetables as well as fruits, potatoes, bread etc. Anyway, if anyone has any good vegetarian recipes that a 10-year-old with picky tastes would like, let me know. I sent her to school today with a Morningstar Farms veggie burger on a bun, baby carrots, a small cup of applesauce and 10-calorie fruit punch pouch. She got an apple for morning snack. So...reasonably healthy, but she definitely needs to eat more veggies. *sigh* We'll see how long this lasts. She fell off the wagon on Sunday when she had spring rolls and fried rice; the spring rolls had some kind of meat in them. I wish she would get interested in salads, but she's worried about getting diseases from lettuce and spinach :(

3. lady_carrie, thanks for the Christmas card! But you didn't put your new address on the envelope so I don't know where to send your card. Mreh.
