Odd things in the news
1. Totally disgusting: Boyfriend cut up corpse, cooked it :-O More evidence that Hurricane Katrina is causing mental illness? or was this guy just totally effed up before then?
2. Fun stuff: An invisibility cloak that works in the microwave region of the electromagnetic spectrum has been unveiled in the US. While not quite as effective as Harry Potter's invisibility cloak, the device is the first practical version of a theoretical set-up first suggested by physicists earlier this year. About the size of a movie reel canister, the cloak works by steering microwave light around an object, making it appear to an observer as if it were not there at all.
Erm, how can this be a "cloak" if it's the size of a film-reel canister?? It's more like a cloaking device than an actual cloak. Still, very cool. But not quite cool enough to balance out the previous story...
