1. At 11:00 a.m. today, Mr. Annearchy has an appointment with our primary care physician concerning that ugly thing on his scalp. Cross your fingers that it's nothing too bad.
2. One of my co-workers brought a yummy, not-too-sweet rhubarb cake as a treat today (in honor of his upcoming 50th birthday). Mmmmmmmm. Most people make rhubarb stuff too sweet to compensate for the normal rhubarb taste, but this one is pretty close to perfect.
3. I'm re-reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince right now (my 3rd read, at a very leisurely pace) and I'm distressed by the physical condition of my book. It's only 10 1/2 months old, yet a lot of pages seem to be falling out of the binding! That seems very wrong. Shouldn't a hard-bound book (especially a somewhat expensive one) last a lot longer? Or is only the Deluxe Edition bound well enough to last more than a year? *makes eyes in direction of all librarians/archivists on my flist*
4. Speaking of books, Maya and I went to the branch library last night and I got three books/authors that some of you have recommended:
* Airborn, by Kenneth Oppel
* Five Children and It, by E. Nesbit (an author who appears on JK Rowlings "bookshelf" on her website)
* Unnatural Exposure, by Patricia Cornwell.
Airborn was recommended by
madlori and
mjryan, among others. Nesbit's books (in general) were recommended by
house_elf_44. I finished Cornwell's BODY OF EVIDENCE last week and really liked it, so I was looking specifically for any of her other books last night.
How are y'all today? Any other book recs for me?
