And soon it'll be Christmas
1. Survived Christmas Eve, which included trips to the Salvation Army Resale Store, Michael's crafts store and Wisconsin Craft Market, and our supermarket. Tomorrow's Christmas dinner (which I'll be cooking) will include a turkey breast, mashed potatoes, stuffing, homemade cranberry sauce and a vegetable to be named tomorrow afternoon. We'll have chocolate fudge frozen yogurt for dessert (Maya's choice). After dinner we opened a few of our presents. This is always a tug of war; Mr. Annearchy's family opened their gifts on Christmas eve, while mine never opened gifts until Christmas morning. We've compromised for years by opening 1 or 2 smaller gifts of Christmas Eve. Anyway, Maya gave me a gift certificate for a 15-minute Aquamassage at one of the local malls. I don't care what else I get this Christmas; I'm thrilled by this gift and will use the certificate ASAP :) Mr. Annearchy opened one of my gifts, a plaid flannel shirt (something he asked for). Maya opened two gifts: one from me and Mr. Annearchy, a Teen Trends 'Courtney' doll; and one from one of my sisters, a wobble Nutcracker by Towle Silversmiths - kind of a fancy Christmas decoration. It's got a little snowglobe inside, which Maya loved. Ellen must have remember me traipsing around the South Park Mall in Charlotte last month, trying to find a snowglobe for Maya.
2. Now that Maya seems to be asleep, finally, we're indulging in another Christmas Eve tradition by watching A CHRISTMAS STORY on TBS. I never get tired of watching this movie, and I'm glad TBS plays it every year (though 24 straight hours of Ralphie, the Red Ryder BB gun, the wacked-out store Santa and "Frah-JEE-lay" might be a tad much ;) I guess IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE was on earlier this evening, but we were too busy opening those presents. SIGH. That's another movie I adore. Which reminds me, what is YOUR favorite Christmas-themed movie?
