1. Okay, people, I was gone for only 30 hours. How'd you manage to put me at skip=220 to catch up on your antics exciting lives? Oy. Well, that took only 2 hours.
2. We drove to Bloomington, IL, yesterday (about 200 miles due south) for a Christmas party thrown by Mr. Annearchy's cousin KW and her husband, FW. We had a good time. Maya went there all excited to see her cousins Stephanie and Lauren (who are sisters, in third and first grades, respectively). Alas, it took about 3 hours for the girls to warm up to Maya (who they hadn't seen since June). When they finally did, the three got along really well and played together until almost 11:30 p.m.!! I did a bit of Parental Guidance duty, watching the film Look Who's Talking (PG-13) with them (and pointing out all the scenes that were "too old for you" to them). While we watched, they painted my fingernails in rainbow colors (blue, pink, orange, yellow and green); each fingernail on each hand is one of those colors. So I have rainbow nails :D We spent the night at an Econo-Lodge motel on the far west side of Bloomington. It was okay, perfectly adequate for only $50/night. This morning as we packed up to leave, Maya discovered that she didn't have her multi-colored Fruit Loops nail polish kit. So we went back to FW and KW's house to see if she'd left it there. We didn't find it but FW said that maybe Steph or Lauren had picked it up by mistake and if they did, they'd mail it to Maya. Poor Maya, that was the thing she liked best of all her presents. She also got some generic "Magnetix" magnetic sticks and balls, a nice L.E.I. watch, a ginormous coloring book and crayons, and a book the name of which escapes me. We got home around 2:15. I think I've finally recovered.

I was sure I'd get ENVY for my top deadly sin. That's certainly how I feel on LJ, like I'm busy envying people. But actually I'm a terribly slothful person in RL, and I did kind of pig out yesterday at the party, so this makes sense too.
