so i made it through the past week, which is amazing. unfortunately this semester isn't the best for grades, i know i can do better, but with 5 classes and captainship and walking the dog and volunteering at the mfa i'm doing alright.
this weekend involved three important rivalries.
3. Harvard Yale: i went, i saw, we conquered. it was a good game, wait, who am i kidding, it was an atrocity. we won 35-3. and in so winning clinched the ivy league title. best play of the game was a harvard interception on our own 3 yard line which was ran back for a touchdown.
2. Michigan Ohio State: so michigan screwed up and lost, unsurprisingly. the important part is that so did wisconsin, leaving michigan as the big ten's number one bowl contender. that's right, rose bowl glory, let's just hope they play better there.
1. Harvard Colmbia: first meet of the fencing season and without doubt the most important. i've never seen the team have so much spirit. we were cheering and huddling a half an hour before columbia was even there! i fenced solidly, something i haven't been able to say about my competition fencing in awhile. better yet, everyone did, the women won 19-8, and we had more spirit than columbia the entire time. every time a fencer finished a bout, they were swarmed by 4 or 5 other people to congratulate them and help the next person get ready. way to go team.
the only time i saw columbia actually get into the meet was at the end of the men's competition. it was tied, 13-13, with one bout remaining. the score eventually got to 4-4.
and then they won 5-4. it was depressing, but the fact that they only won by 1 point of a total of 135 proves that the columbia men's team is not any better than harvard's.
moving on, i am now getting ready for thanksgiving and i can't wait to be home, with my kitty and my family and our crazy new car with heated seats, dvd player, gps, blah blah blah.
and of course my lovely lovely dearborn friends who apparently believe i dated a chicken and love msu and other very odd things. oh i know about your mischief alright.
be home soon, see you all then!
