Well! Hi Livejournal, how's it going? I haven't seen your pretty face in a while!
I feel like I've been busy, but I don't have much to show for it. We were at my mom's for 10 days over Christmas and New Year's, and most of my downtime was spent trying to finish my Bhagavad Gita assignment and/or avoiding working on my assignment. I am a procrastinatrix.
The holidays were good. Quiet, but good. Theo wasn't super interested in unwrapping gifts, but he liked the toys he got. Most of his gifts were clothes, which was exactly what I was hoping for. His biggest present was a ride-on toy from my mom, and Matt and I also got him a Pelican baby sled as an early birthday gift.
I feel like Theo suddenly grew up a whole lot over the holidays. Like, his understanding of what we're saying seems to have improved so much in just a few weeks. You can ask him to point to things, and he'll do it. He has a bunch of words, and says some of them unprompted (mama, dada, door, hooray, light, puff, to name a few). He took three unassisted steps today, and then refused to even try to walk for the rest of the day. It's weird, you guys - I can't believe he's so big and so old and can do so much! Also, I love that he can tell us what he wants now. At meal times he points to what he wants to eat. Of course, the other day he spent all of dinner pointing at Matt's beer. He's his father's son, I guess.
Catherine moved in yesterday. So far it's been pretty uneventful and fun, so that's good. I hope that things continue to go smoothly.
I think that's about all there is to report. The only other thing I can think of is that Rob Ford answered my letter with a form letter about the fare hike. Thanks for taking me seriously, Mr. Mayor! You're the best, I hope you never change. Oh, and have you heard that the police have been called twice to his house for domestic disputes? One of the calls was made on Christmas day because he wanted to take his kids to Florida against his wife's wishes. Stay classy, Rob!
Theo does his best M.C. Escher impersonation
Matt reads Theo 'Twas The Night Before Christmas. OF COURSE.

Cozy in the Pelican - this will be so much easier than trying to drive a stroller through snow and ice!
Taking the sled out for a test run.
Theo is worn out from sledding.
