a few notes on my current life

May 25, 2006 19:38

i don't think i've ever updated my livejournal with a glass of red wine by my side, but i suppose there's a first time for everything. i also suppose that it works well with my goal of being a wino this summer, in homage to jim and lannie, my loveable wino parents.

i suppose i have a bit of the routine that jon's got, but it's mostly because my job is full time, and there's some "contract" that sets "hours" for me. I'm supposed to be there at 9:30 but i'm usually there at 9:40, which is kind of pathetic cause the office is three blocks away from where i live, but it just proves further my theory that the closer the place i have to be, the later i will be for it.

but things are good. toronto is absolutely fantastic in the summer, because everyone wants to make the most of it while we can before winter comes back. So from may on, the whole city is out, on the streets, at festivals, concerts, bars, parks... it's great. last weekend i went with my friend grace to a jazz bar called the reservoir lounge and got ourselves into trouble (much fun), the week before we discovered a fantastic (i will continue to utilize the "f" word) tea salon and a gigantic, beautiful park that we never knew existed. trips to the bizarre bazaar that is the St. Lawrence market for gourmet mustard, bread, smoothies, shish kebab, and gelato... and working i actually have the money to really enjoy myself.

this weekend as per the beautiful (fantastic?) weather, paul and i are headed to Centre Island, an island park just off Toronto in Lake Ontario. So far plans are: walk on the beach (but don't go in the water! Imagine the hudson, 20 years ago), go through some of the gardens, play some ball or frisbee, and steal somebody's picnic (did anyone ever read that mickey mouse book where they go on a picnic and somebody steals their chocolate cake?).

so welcome the weekend, kiddies! hope you're all enjoying the sunshine wherever you might be.
