I'm doing the horror film. I went from script supervisor to boom mic operation to supporting part - God bless low budgets. Actually, I prefer doing this, because it's not a lot of fiddling around. When you have a big vision and a big budget, you refine and rework and test until you've got it all right. Here, it's do it, and go. If something doesn't jive, just grab whatever you've got and make it work, Tim Gunn-style.

Filming is out on Long Island. All location work, save one or two scenes, is being done on this huge mansion that's owned by the Transcendental Meditation folk. You've got a main house which is pretty sparse in the decor department, and I swear every room has at least three doors that lead somewhere else, so you can get lost pretty easily. There's an extended driveway they used for a chase scene, a sizable pond, abandoned horse stables, a guest house, forest and field areas. I spent one night at the house, but it was unnerving - too big, too quiet. Although I admit that it's nice to be out in open space again, and away from the city, even if my allergies flared up a bit. Hicksville, the closest city, has upscale areas that make me think of Greenville in Delaware. And there's an Ikea!

My acting is shitty, as I'm doing a caricature rather than a character - my own efforts are the only thing to blame for this - and I have the feeling I'm going to hate the girly voice I put on once I hear it, if I even make the final cut. I'm not sure if they're using me any more, as I'm going away for a few days and will miss pick-ups, and I'm thinking of dyeing my hair, but I was recently trying to encourage them to kill me off in a gruesome manner, as my character just disappears from the script, and we have a talented makeup guy. I want to have my throat slit or get eviscerated or something. I do the extra work for the free food, and I do this horror film for the opportunity to be bathed in red Karo syrup.
