Man, this printed NME special on Muse is great - it's a compilation of their interviews , including the one from 2001 that initially got me into the band. (I actually ripped out that interview from an NME when I was in England and brought it home, because while I wasn't a fan yet, what was being said in there was just so fucking weird. I've still got it in a drawer somewhere.) They've run a bunch of the old promo shots, too, and bless - they were just these awkward little poorly-dressed cuties still in their growing stages, Dom with fat cheeks and Matt with ... no fat anywhere. I actually started cracking up on the subway because a 2003 interview had Matt ranting about how Jesus wasn't Jewish and never actually died on the cross, and the interviewer is just, "Uh ... we're going to get letters about this."
In the same interview, Matthew talks rather sweetly about finding someone who really means something to him, and you just want to groan, because it was kind of awesome that Gaia had a brain and a career and wasn't just some useless socialite, and you admire the two of them for sticking it out so long. I'm partly rooting for Kate Hudson, though, inasmuch as my casting agency is handling "Something Borrowed" and I'm hoping I can do a background day when she decides to drag him along with her.
