C'mon down for a great show and a great cause!! -a
Rock community gathers for benefit
The House of Bricks is pleased to announce a pair of benefit shows on January 21st. Join us as we celebrate the life of our friend Mark Schager, and raise money to help the people who helped him through his final days. Mark struggled with muscular dystrophy and lived with a friendly and kind group of caregivers.
He spent the final 17 years of his life in the care of The Oaks, an assisted living home in Blaine, MN. All proceeds from these two shows will go to The Oaks to help renovate the house that became Mark’s home.
We’ll be giving away door prizes and hosting a silent auction for a variety of goodies including: merchandise from local vendors and bands, signed guitars and other music memorabilia, movie posters, and gift certificates from Skin Kitchen, Tivoli hair salon, Healing Hands massage and much, much more!
The 5 p.m., all-ages show includes a lineup of Audacious P, Facecage and Knucklebone.
Audacious P is a tribute to Jack Black’s Tenacious D rock duo. The Des Moines band features Corey Taylor of Slipknot fame and Josh Brainard of On A Pale Horse. Facecage is a brutal local metal band gaining notoriety around the nation for its fierce songwriting and energetic live shows. Melodic rock group Knucklebone rounds out the bill. Knucklebone’s bassist Matt Schager is the brother of Mark Schager.
The 9 p.m., 21 years and older, show features Audacious P and Knucklebone in encore sets as well as On A Pale Horse. A local favorite, On A Pale Horse is a heavy rock group that features blistering guitar work and serious beats.
