Long time no post. Since Comic Con too be exact.
It's late, so I won't be posting too much.
To pick up on some things from my last post, I did start watching Chuck and am now a huge fan. Not as a big fan, but I watch V now as well. Thank you DVR.
To continue on the TV News. I've stopped watching House and Parenthood (mostly). Still obsessed with Glee though.
I, obviously, started my new job at the school I transferred to. Still stressful, but it's a stress I put on myself and it's far less emotional. The expectations are high, but I like it that way.
I'm teaching 11th grade English this year. Everything is so test oriented, I miss teaching actual literature and not concepts that will be on a test. I really enjoy working with my Professional Learning Community (PLC) of other 11th grade teachers. There are three of us. I've already made the Harry Potter analogy/connections...and no...I'm NOT Hermione in this situation. I think I'm Ron.
I'm also teacher/in charge of the honors Drama class this year because of some credentialing issues/health issues of the current drama teachers. I had my students write and produce their own one act plays for the fall production, and because we don't have enough money to do a musical, we are doing A Midsummer Night's Dream and updating the time period to jazz age Chicago (Shakespeare doesn't have any liscencing costs).
The title of the post comes courtesy of one of my students.
Me (as I see a cheerleader playing with drumsticks): So A, your a drummer now?
S: Yeah, she's the new drummer for our band and D is going to sing.
D: No, I want to play the tangerine!
Me (head down on desk, turning red with laughter)
....
(later in the class as we are correcting sentence on the board)
R: Special is misspelled, They forgot the A.
D: Special? Of course YOU would know that (to the previous student)
Me: This coming from the girl who wants to play the tangerine?
