Aunts and penguins

We've had a changing of the aunts. My sister Kathryn left Wednesday, after having, as she'd tell you herself, scrubbed my kitchen floor on her hands and knees - *on her hands and knees* - out of sisterly love and auntly concern. My aunt T. arrived yesterday, on her way through to a funeral in Ithaca. She did have time to visit the bookstore, where in the evening she, being a penguin lover (she sails a Penguin), chose a book to read to Henry: _And Tango makes three_. I'd seen the book, but was as surprise (almost) as Aunt T was to find it was the story of the two male penguins in the Central Park Zoo who pair-bonded and then raised a baby. Yes, gay penguin daddies. Aunt Terry seemed surprised and a bit uncomfortable to find the storyline, but finished reading the story gamely. I had heard about the penguins before, but not that they'd raised a young one. I certainly hadn't realised I had a book in the store about them! But now I can add it to the storytime book list for June....

Tomorrow it's Henry and Mommy day. I'm thinking of calling friends in Rochester, to see if we can meet up and play or see a movie.

I also need to figure out what stories I'm reading for Tuesday's storytime; I'm planning a Frog & Toad story, "The garden" to follow up on the seed-planting that was done a couple weeks ago, with _The carrot seed_. Either _Diary of a worm_ or some poetry strikes me as a good bet, but I need to think of an activity. If it's the A. A. Milne poem abot Christopher Robin hopping, there's one thing to do: hop. Someone suggested diaries, but the kids are pretty little. Live worms, probably not. Though, why not? Some dirt and worms...? Ask the bank if we could dig up some of their lawn to find worms? *Mayyyyy*be.....
