I had a really strange dream last night. I was with my parents, going to Tangier Island to visit my grandparents for Christmas. So we had to drive from Virginia to Pennsylvania and take a bridge over the ocean to get there. And the city we had to drive to was Punxsatawney, PA (from the movie Groundhog Day). And the locals said, "Ah, just drive to the end of the city and then all roads eventually turn into this really long bridge that will take you to Tangier." So we went, but I decided hey, what the hell, I wasn't so into this trip and I wanted to turn around.
So I was somehow walking around Punxsatawney by myself, and I ended up on this college campus. It was actually Princeton. And I stopped in a store on the campus and this group of people came around me and started asking me questions, being really friendly, and treated me like I was their favorite person in the world.
I said, "I thought Princeton was in New Jersey?"
They replied "Yes, but it's such a big school that it's expanded all the way to Punxsatawney."
I had no idea Princeton was so large now. And one of these bright, happy good-looking people asked me, "Didn't you say you had a sister?" So, at that instant I spotted Amy outside the store, walking down the sidewalk, and I exclaimed "Yes I do have a sister, and there she is!" And I called her name and ran up to her and was surprised because I didn't know she went to school at Princeton, I didn't even know she had decided to go back to school. So strange too that on such a huge campus I could run into her. And she furtively grabbed my arm, pulled me into an overhang, and scolded me. "This isn't like Longwood (her real-life Alma Mater), Anna, you can't just talk to me in public." Then she ran off to where my other sister Katie was waiting for her up ahead. There was some kind of conspiracy against me.
The Japanese element came when I found myself in a large open room that was a combination of a public bath and dormitory. I saw my friend Amber that I knew in high school, and some other people I knew, and I said "Hey, everybody's going to Princeton now, this is amazing!" I guess that was the end, I can't remember.
