Its been an interesting week, and now I'm in TO!

I decided I should update on lj, since I do like it better then Facebook for keeping people up to date!

Last Friday, I got a call from Jess’ mom at work. His brother had a temperature of over 202, which meant a prompt trip to the hospital. It worked out because he was supposed to go for chemo, so a ride was already planned. After a few hours he was discharged, they brought his temperature down with Tylenol/Advil, and postponed chemo to this week.

We decided we’d go to Orangeville to visit them this weekend, since timing would work for being to get here. This Thursday Jess was to do his road test, and right after we were going to pick our BRAND NEW CAR!! That’s right, last weekend we decided to get a fully loaded 2006 Kia Spectra5!

We had went to see a car Jess had his heart set on, a 2001 Jetta with 150k on it, for about 10 grand, fully loaded and pimped out. Not a horrible vehicle, with lots of years left. Jess had to go to the washroom and I wanted to check out the Honda dealership nearby so we walked thru Kia to get there. A manager asked if we had been helped yet, and we asked to use theirs. While I was waiting for Jess, I read a flyer talking about their 5 year 100k warrantee and 0% finance promo, and yada yada yada, we picked a car, bought it, and planned to pick it up on Thursday, after Jess’ road test.

Well, Monday my cell rang while I was at work, and I thought it might be Jess’ mom again with bad news so I answered. Well, it was a rep from Dose telling me I’d won a contest I’d entered (one of the many I entered online while really, really bored at home one night. I won their Much Music Video Award contest: $500, flights to TO, two nights hotel at the Metropolitan Hotel, and VIP access to the award show! Proof: http://www.dose.ca/contests/MMVA/winners.html

Well, it looked like going to Orangeville would not have to wait since it was happening this weekend! My manager was nice enough to let me book it off as one of my vacation days, even though it was such short notice. All that was left to do was make it through the week and find somebody to take care of the pooch!

Well, Thursday came and went as planned. Jess got his G2, we got insurance on short notice over the phone, and I signed the papers so we got to leave with our new car! Its soooooo nice! Definitely Jess’ choice, but I am very happy my wants were met. It was a demo, so we got a great deal, and it only had about 8500 km on it! It’s a nice sized hatchback, with tons of storage in the back when you fold the rear seats back. It is manual, so I’ll have to learn how to drive stick, and get used to driving in it. Jess’ good at driving tho, so it won’t take long.

Pierre ended up being an amazing brother and said he’d babysit, with mom and dad being in Quebec for a little while longer. I talked him down from my $500 winning, and paid less then a kennel would. Now that we had a car, it was just a drive to deliver her to Orleans. Apparently, Hank and her are getting along!

My last thing to do before heading to the airport, go do my c-pap sleep study. Yeah, that right, I spent another fun filled Friday night in the sleep lab. I actually don’t have Sleep Apnea, but I do need a c-pap machine. I’ll explain more after I see the sleep doctor. There is something about my breathing that is waking me up. The machine prevents the issue from happening, so it will make me sleep much deeper and hence better. I had a nasal mask, and I did feel ok after the first claustrophobic panic feeling went away. WOOHOO! Better sleep really soon!

Ok, so Jess picked me up (after I called to wake him up at 5:30am, yeah, that’s when they kick you out of the sleep lab), I went and washed the crap out of my hair that held the electrodes in place, we got Timmie’s and went to the airport. We flew WestJet and got to downtown TO around 12:30ish. The hotel room wasn’t ready, so we went shopping.

We went back and the room wasn’t ready, so I went for a manicure and pedicure while Jess waited. When I came back, Jess wasn’t waiting on the sofa in the lobby any longer, so I went to the desk to get my key. Turns out that there was a really unhappy customer that had waited a really long time for his room too, and had pointed out that customers were falling asleep waiting for their rooms (Jess got bored of playing on my laptop, so he put his hat over his eyes, and looked like he was sleeping with all out luggage around him) WELL, the hotel clerk got permission from the manager to upgrade our room to a suite! Jess had been really patient with her, and I’m sure the manager wanted him in a room before others made the same observations (well, he only have a couple hours sleep).

So, the shows tomorrow, and I’m excited to be there, not entirely for the actual performers. It’ll be cool to have VIP access! I’ll be sure to post what happens!

I think I’ve blabbed long enough. TIME FOR SLEEP!
