I LOVE THE CROWS. SO MUCH.

Tonight was the last game of the season, since we haven't been in finals contention for a month, and omg my boys turned it on so well <3 It was also the farewell game for four of our players, including the skipper, who I met and had a photo with about two years ago (Simon Goodwin); our bestest player EVER (Andrew McLeod) and~ Brett Burton, who I met and had a photo with on the same night as Goodwin and who is AWESOME at marking, hence being nicknamed 'Birdman', but he's a shit kick so I'm not hugely disappointed. Also Hentschel, whose name I'm sure I've spelt wrong, but he didn't even get to 100 games due to being out with a bung knee for, like, two years. So yeah. He would've been brilliant without the bung knee, I'm sure.

BUT YES. SO AWESOME. The four of them all gave their 'thanks to the fans' thing at the end of the game, and while you might roll your eyes and think how cliché it all is, with the Crows? They genuinely appreciate us. When they're playing and they run past when the crowd it all cheering behind them, you can see them grinning. When we're particularly vocal, like tonight or against Geelong a few weeks back, they play SO much better. When we put off the opposition when they're lining up for goal and they end up getting a point, or even kicking it out on the full, that's a 19th man score assist. We had 8 by the end of the game, and omg the boys appreciate it so much. They always applaud us at the end of the match, they know how important the crowd is in a home game, and they let us know all the time that we're appreciated.

At the end of the game, when the retiring players had done their lap of honour, the crowd behind us starter chanting "Adelaide! *clap clap clap* Adelaide! *clap clap clap*" and it spread around the whole oval. 40,000 people all chanting for those blokes.

That, ladies and gents, is why I love those boys. None of the other teams do the nineteenth man thing. They had an absolute shocker start to the season, and were confusing as all hell at the end (beating Geelong and St Kilda, coming to within 3 points of Collingwood, of all teams, and yet losing to Richmond and Port? Come on, boys) but honestly, the last half or so? Brilliant. Brilliant footy.

I LOVE THE CROWS. We're so going to be gold members next year. Front row, hell yeah, baby.

crows, footy
