Sydney Day 6: Friday 2 November

Dec 16, 2018 18:33

Featuring the Three Sisters, the Wintergarden and Blue Mountains Sparadise.

Just as magnificent a second time around. We went for food, but the Three Sisters are the reason most people go to the Blue Mountains.

NSW does dramatic so well. That valley is something to just stare at. It's impressive.

Nobody else felt like going on a walk, so I went myself along the ridge and took photos of wildflowers and banksias and more big views.

That's why they're called the Blue Mountains.

Onto the Hydro Majestic, to the Wintergarden for high tea! We were a bit early and they hadn't opened yet, so we walked the grounds for a bit before going inside.

What a VIEW.

High tea! The wrap was a bit ordinary, but the rest was great. Big fluffy scones, delicate little desserts.

And a glass of bubbly.

Last of the awesome holiday food, aww. God it was good, though.

Second antiques shop where Alex bought things, and also this one was very photogenic.

Onto our final destination, and the thing we booked the rest of the Blue Mountains around, Blue Mountains Sparadise! This is a Japanese-themed spa which has been closed every time I've been to see Cassie, so we made a point of scheduling around it on this trip.

Strange seeing these perfectly sculpted trees in amongst what's basically a paddock.

Unlike an actual Japanese onsen, you're walking around in bathers rather than in the nuddy. Bonus means I can take photos, though, cos my phone is waterproof.

Automate Batch on small photos makes things go small. LOOK it's ma girls!

Because the weather was warming up--it was high-20s this day--the spa was entering into its off season, so there was practically nobody there.

Next time I'll go in winter, see how it goes then, cos yea, high-20s was probably a bit much. We were sculling water like we were in the desert. Gorgeous day, though, all the more so because we knew it was more like 35 back in Sydney.

After our spa day we bundled back in the car and headed off back to Sydney, where we got a pizza for dinner, staying at Alex's place with her aunt for the night before heading off back home the next day.

OR DID WE??? (Spoilers: we didn't.)

'narti originally stuck this at Dreamwidth cos she had to use it for something.
