Lots of stuff…

Happy to be back home again after almost two weeks living at the hospital. Even happier about my dad’s prognosis. The surgery went well, the cancer was superficial this time (so no chemo or radiation needed), there were relatively few post-surgery complications (unlike last time) and he’s finally released and back home. He’s having some problems but he’s only been on solid food for a couple of days (thanks to one of the two complications that cropped up). I think he just needs to understand he’s not going to bounce back overnight.

Also, a belated thank you to the kind and thoughtful person who nominated Marking Time for The Sunnydale Memorial Fanfiction Awards. I think because it took me so long to finish it, that interest in the story simply faded away. I’m not surprised and I certainly understand, but I admit to feeling a wee bit disappointed. It’s stupid, but there you go. So this nod is most definitely appreciated.

By the way, nominations are open through November 18, so go nominate your favorite fics!

Speaking of fics, I have a very insubstantial and fluffy ficlet ready for my posting day at seasonal_spuffy next week. I have three other fics in various stages of completion, but with my parents’ health issues, I haven’t really made any headway on them. I’m still kind of exhausted and also obligated to work an event this weekend, so not sure if I’ll finish any of those in time.

I’ll probably post shortly after midnight on my posting date. We’ve known there’s a big layoff coming at work and rumor has it that’s the day it will happen. Which means I may not feel like posting when I get home. Even if I survive this latest round, there are friends and co-workers who may not. There are already a few who have accepted the early retirement packages and I’m really going to miss them.

Otherwise, I’m definitely looking forward to kicking back and catching up on the other seasonal_spuffy submissions. I just have to remember where I left off, which thanks to my very tired brain, is a little easier said than done right now. Heh.

Now I’m off to bed. Hope everyone is well!
