If in doubt, go with the science. Flashy 'hydrating' drinks are sugared water with colouring. Fact.
Glad to know someone else is content to drink tap water. As my mum used to say - 'There's people in Africa...' etc. She was of course referring to my stubborn refusal to eat cabbage.
Same difference. What many people in the west eschew as not 'healthy' enough, half the world's population would consider a blessing.
(As far as I'm concerned, if you can't spell it or pronounce it, don't eat or drink it.)
If I had a gazillion dollars, I would dedicate it to providing plentiful clean drinking water to everyone in the world. I honestly think it would - in addition to the obvious health benefits - decrease intolerance and violence.
I'm a big water drinker too. I refill a plastic bottle about forty times, washing with soap and bottle brush, and then toss is and buy another. I don't feel safe with one I can't see through.
I used to do that, too, but then my doctor told me I should stop: she said that the plastics used for the bottles of water (like Fiji, Evian, Dasani, etc) break down fairly easily, and the chemicals released are very disruptive to the endocrine system. I guess they're OK for a couple uses, but then heat speeds up the breakdown. :-P That's when I got a metal water bottle that I can just toss in the dishwasher, like my pots and pans.
Now that you mention it, I have lived in a place where the tap water was just yicky. I did purchase a water filter at the time, and used it religiously. Otherwise I have been very fortunate to have tap water that ranged from delicious, to tolerable-once-I-let-the-tap-run-for-awhile.

Once I tried to find a glass bottle I liked, but gave up. Guess I will try again.
