So for my drive across the country, the only thing that I can really say is amazing. I hadn't seen my mother since Christmas, and she flew in just to drive back to PA with me. It was quite the bonding experience. I know that sounds completely and utterly cliche, but it's the honest truth. We took some slight detours on the way, stopping at the Grand Canyon, which is more breath taking than I ever thought it would be, and at the Meramec Caverns in Missouri.
It was a long 4 days, I'm not going to lie. But it was definitely way more relaxing than the road trips we would take as a family of 6 when i was a kid up the east coast. In the summer I'm doing the same drive, but I'm going to stop in Texas and visit friends for a few days...this drive will be by myself which I'm actually looking forward to. I'm thinking I can get a major amount of thinking done, as well as some new songs at my stays in motels across the country.
I really wish my family was closer, and I really wish times weren't as hard for them as they have been. I can't wait to be famous so that I can buy them a house.
I went job hunting today in the meantime, until I become a rockstar, and I found one. I'm now a cocktail waitress at this bar/restaraunt called the hop. I've never done any kind of waitressing before, but I'm rather excited. I'm not a morning person by any means, and working late nights seems much more appealing. A huge part of culture shock has to be the extreme difference between minimum wage on the west coast and the east coast....
Besides that, I'm just looking for places to play, and writing new songs. I already miss the California coast and everyone there, although I am extremely excited to be home. conundrum?
On a final note, I'm making a book. It's going to be grand. It's called Subliminal Geography and basically is a photography book of all the natural formations in nature that look sexual. It's going to be a best seller. And if you've ever driven through New Mexico or Arizona, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
