7.21.07 :: All the Marauders will be together again.

I went to the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the All-Caps of Boiling Rage last Tuesday night with moireach, throughadoor, smartlikejustin and la_cspan. (Nothing like an outing in which everyone is an lj user equals.) I'd forgotten how much fun these ridiculous fannish type things are -- there were costumes (an entire Quidditch team, with robes and brooms, made up of kind of hot 25 year old guys? Interesting), and t-shirts (Snape Is Good!), and house colors all over the place (Hufflepuffs: a surprisingly proud bunch!), and during the movie there was cheering and snickering. I mean, it was one of those events where you don't really want to think about the percentage of people in the room who have probably read Transfigurations, but hey.

As for specifics, so okay, when Snape said he was going to try to "penetrate" Harry? UM. Also, when Harry started kissing Cho there were all these cheers and cat-calls, but then he KEPT kissing her, and as the kiss entered its third year, I heard someone down the row from me (throughadoor?) whisper, "Jesus Christ." Haha, for reals. Also, historically, I have felt about Remus/Sirius the same way I've always felt about Giles/Ethan -- I consider both ships canonical, and they both bore me to tears. But I don't know, when Harry first got to Grimmauld Place and Sirius and Remus were sitting really close to each other at the table? I had some Remus/Sirius feelings, I'm not going to lie to you. It was weird. So, uh, if anybody has an Remus/Sirius recs (post-Azkaban but pre-death), I would be amenable.

Anyway, I totally enjoyed the movie, and that's about all I have to say about it, though I have enjoyed reading y'all's 20,000 word essays on it. And obvs I have big plans for the midnight Deathly Hallows release next weekend. Harry and the Potters are involved, so good times.

I'm also psyched because I've finally finalized my summer vacation plans, and have decided, eff it, I am going to take three weeks off at the beginning of August. So I'm spending two of those weeks at my family's place in Canada, where there is no internet at ALL (thumbs down), BUT on the way there I get to spend a day with agate (thumbs WAY WAY UP), and then a week at my parents' in Kentucky. SO EXCITED to actually get to relax. And also go swimming in a lake when it's ridiculously hot out, like it is today. (Summer in the city: THUMBS DOWN. Back of my neck getting dirt and gritty.) But seriously, HOW is it already mid-July? NO, NO, SUMMER COME BACK.

I accidentally got a Facebook account the other day, not intending to use it, but now all these people from high school and college have found me and friended me. Which has actually been a surprisingly positive experience? Apparently I am not as big a hater as I thought. Except now writing all these catching up messages on people's Walls or whatever is starting to stress me out and feel like Internet Homework. Whatevs, man. Though it is funny to see how the younger someone is, the more pictures of them there are on Facebook. Ah, kids today.
