moireach's brother and his girlfriend are up visiting and staying with us, and last night we turned Apples to Apples into a drinking game, which I then proceeded to win (unfortunately and I still believe illegitimately - YOU GUYS WERE TOTALLY PLAYING TO LOSE, WHATEVS. As an aside, that game is EVEN FUNNER when you're totally wasted and nobody's putting down words that make any sense. Though you'll regret it in the morning). Winning meant I did ten shots of bourbon, plus two beers and a hot chocolate with Bailey's, and so, weirdly, I don't feel that awesome today. What are the odds? At least I didn't throw up, which is more than our guests can say. Haha. Maybe we shouldn't have let the 19-year-old do shots. Well, LIVE AND LEARN.
The sitcomathon fics are up! There's so much good stuff it's kind of stressing me out to try to read them all. I haven't at all gotten through everything, but preliminary recs include:
Not in Love With the Modern World by sophia_helix (Office, Jim/Ryan) - Jim and Ryan get stoned.
Shut up, I am dreaming of places where lovers have wings by mazily (Office/Sports Night, Jim/Pam, Jim/Dan) - Great crossover, really interestingly structured.
Mockumentary by roz-mcclure (written for meeeeeee, Arrested Development/Office, Michael Bluth/Maeby, Jim/Pam) - Just completely hilarious, perfect crossover, two of my requests at once - amazing, amazing, amazing.
Ryan Howard is no longer a temp by swmbo (Office, Ryan/Kelly) - Ryan and Kelly go on the Amazing Race. Heeeeee.
The Life and Times of a Temporary Employee by kyrafic (Office/Arrested Development, Gob Bluth/Kelly Kapour) - Oh man. We'd talked before about how awesome it would be if Gob came to the office, and this does it so well. It's totally hilarious and perfect.
All those fics are great, even though my recs are pretty inadequate and hungover, so you should read them despite me. Oh, and I wrote one too: M*A*S*H, Hawkeye/Peg.
Oh, and I signed up for yuletide, for the first year ever, like a crazy person. (Writing in ficathons is not my preferred method of writing, in that I'm kind of terrible at it, but I loooove small fandoms, SO.) Anyway, I gather it is conventional to address your yuletide secret santa, so, hey there! I don't actually have that much to add to my requests, except that I will no doubt love anything you write for any of those fandoms, because I am psyched for all of them. In general, I tend to like things that are understated, and fic about complicated relationships, and things that are clever and do interesting things with canon. If you wanted to look at what I tend to write, it's all at my website. Otherwise, I hope you have fun writing whatever, because I'm sure I'll have fun reading it!
Also, the Borat movie is the hardest I've laughed in a theater in a long, long time.
