SVU: Wow. WOW. I haven't laughed so hard in aWHILE. Are people from svufiction.com writing this show now? Olivia murmuring, "Elliot... Elliot... Elliot" in her CONCUSSED SLEEP???? HAHAHAHAHAHA. At that point in the show,
moireach was like, Did you make this happen with your mind? And I was like, dude, not even *I* would write something this cheesy. Amazing. And seriously, then the rest of the show that one girl being like, "Oh, was that ELLIOT, the guy from your DREAMS"? Seriously, I cannot even. But then Olivia says that she and Elliot are best friends and this show owns me again. STOP WRITING TO MY KINKS, STUPID SHOW.
Other than that, I really hope that this episode taught Olivia a valuable lesson about police brutality, so maybe now she'll stop breaking people's noses and stuff, and also, what is WRONG with her? Does she have some kind of disorder that makes her hunt down sex crimes wherever she goes? STOP BREAKING AND ENTERING, YOU LUNATIC.
And THEN, the promo for NEXT WEEK OMG. So I've been spoiled for that since, like, the spring, but after Olivia is MURMURING HIS NAME IN HER SLEEP, THEN HE IS GOING TO MAKE OUT WITH THE HOT NEW PARTNER?? Right as Olivia comes back?? MMM ANGST DELICIOUS ANGST HOW I HAVE MISSED YOU. I AM EXTREMELY EXCITED FOR THIS DEVELOPMENT.
Office: You know, I've been thinking about it, and I think one of the most interesting things about this show is how it tricks people into thinking they're discovering for themselves things that the show is doing really consciously. Like, the number of people just getting into the show that I've seen say things like, "You know, this might just be me, but I really like that Jim Halpert" is astonishing. Oh, you like Jim Halpert? The POV CHARACTER? Genetically designed to be your perfect boyfriend? Get right out of town! Or people who say, "This is probably a really unpopular fandom opinion, but..." and then go on to say a *really* popular fandom opinion. (Jim/Jan? Yeah, get in line, kid, we're all right there with you.) Anyway, I guess it's a tribute to the subtlety of the show and whatnot, but it's pretty funny. (You SHIP JIM/PAM? You're kidding me, right??)
Anyway, regarding the actual show - I continue to be really pleased with the arc of the season so far. I think maybe my favorite thing is how Pam's taking all these really positive steps in her life, and being really proactive about changing and growing and making her life better, while Jim has MOVED TO CONNECTICUT where he's basically trying to recreate the exact dynamic of the Scranton office, like a big loser who can't move on. His only new things are how now he's actually putting effort into being good at a job he hates, and sucking up to his boss. Good work, Jim.
Their phone conversation in "Initiation" was incredibly great - and I especially loved the misunderstanding that made them get off the phone, because it's SO their relationship. Both of them covering their asses and not taking risks and pretending they have to go because they think the other person has to go. They are not brave! (After seeing some icons with Office quotes (mis)sorted into Hogwarts houses, Moireach and I sorted everyone on the show, and man, Jim and Pam are so incredibly not Gryffindor it rocks my world. So now we call the show The Amazing and True Adventures of Two Hufflepuffs in Love. And I'll give you a moment to reflect on how sad we are.)
Our current episode rankings:
3.05 - The Initiation
3.02 - Convention
3.04 - Grief Counseling
3.01 - Gay Witch Hunt
3.03 - The Coup
We rewatched Grief Counseling this weekend with
swmbo and
ros_fod, who were visiting (I MISS YOU GUYS), and I really like it even more now that there's more season around it, which I think is a good sign. Also, Fod ships Pam/Michael and, well, THANKS FOR THAT, FOD. But seriously, Pam being kind to Michael is always my favorite.
In other news, I have been incredibly busy lately, and am very tired, as usual. Grad school is so lame.
