another poem

If you're still bored, I wrote this one this summer. Sorry if it's kinda emo. My happy poems suck ass. I tried to write about a tree once, and it was a sad, sad day. *sighs* Anyways.. here ya go:

Growing
by Anna C. Garst

"Always growing", they'd say,
They, they'd chuckle it away.
They never once saw my face
Or felt the scorn of my disgrace.

Dad would always smile and laugh.
Mom would giggle, "like a giraffe."
We always knew what they meant,
Affirmed by the nagging hours spent.

Mom was a princess in her day
Had the boy and got her way.
Dad came from nothing, to something big.
Both disgusted by their little pig.

I had good grades and test scores
Had many friends by adults adored.
Never smoked, drank, or did any drugs
An officer in many school clubs.

By my classmates, I was put on a court.
Even had a letter in a varsity sport.
Unfortunately for me, this was never enough.
In their eyes, I wasn't quite "up to snuff."

I went to college, trying to prove them wrong.
Got the "you're just a friend", same old song.
I'd cry, "why doesn't it matter who I am inside?"
"Just stop eating," is all they replied.
