I started thinking of you on the ragged floor
Convulsing in waves of jabbered light
Hopeful to elude the storm
I pressed my hand against your cheek
To tell you comforting lies
like ships sinking in torrid waters always survive
We choked on this naive blessing
With a grimace smile
Then I picked the skin along my thumb dry
and you slipped through my fingers soaking wet
Slippery like shiny serpents you transformed
Into the water, the deep cave of muddied water
Where I once swam to you
